December 2022 Meeting – Year-end Recap

Tuesday, December 6th, 7:00pm
Burlington Library
820 E Washington Avenue, Burlington, WA 98233

We all owe a great deal of gratitude to our out-going Club President, Greg Koenker, for successfully steering the club through a third year of pandemic-related uncertainty. As a club, we were able to dip our toes back in the water with regard to public events, and Greg’s leadership was pivotal in
making that happen.

Come give him a hearty “Thanks” and help send Greg off into the sunset as he hosts the final meeting of 2022!

You don’t want to miss this last chance to see everyone before the holidays consume our lives. And there will be a LOT happening at the meeting…

• As is the club’s tradition, the president will celebrate the conclusion of duties (YAY!) and present a Year-End Wrap-Up highlighting our many club shenanigans over the past 12 months.
• Greg will lead us in voting for the incoming Officers and announce the 2023 Board of Directors.
• There will be an in-person Bring and Brag, so grab a project you want to showcase, and bring it to the meeting for all to see.
• Jerry Couchman and David Shull will be handing out new-member name tags.
• There will be a raffle benefiting Toys for Tots. Bring some CASH and show your support!
• Al Ashley will be on deck for paying your 2023 dues in person.

November 2022 Virtual Meeting – Nick Pederson

Tuesday, November 1st, 7:00pm

Nick will be giving a virtual walking tour of his shop, with emphasis on the things he’s done that might be different from what some folks have seen before.

He’ll also showcase some of his favorite tools and his solutions for storing them.

He’ll have 2 or 3 of his projects on display and will discuss how they were built, along with the specific challenges he faced and how they were addressed, including the complexities of the bent lamination he used on the legs of this beautiful table.

Be ready for an open discussion filled with tips, tricks, techniques, and undoubtedly… a healthy dose of humor!

Alexis builds custom fine furniture and teaches classes at Montana State University and the Port Townsend School of Woodworking as well as at her own shop. Alexis is a founding member and the president of the Bozeman Woodworking Guild, created to help develop the local woodworking community and encourage and support local craftsmen focusing on novice woodworkers.

Alexis will do a slideshow and a talk about how she got into woodworking and what it was like to grow up in a family of makers. She will also chat about what it was like to start a business during the pandemic, along with being a young woman in the building world. She will also share the skills that she has learned running a business and what she finds important in her shop for teaching and making a living building furniture full time.
